Daniel Hertz Mighty Cat Semiconductor

Daniel Hertz is the only audio equipment manufacturer that develops its own proprietary Audio IC (integrated circuit) technology beginning from the silicon up. Daniel Hertz created a new generation of audio ICs called the Daniel Hertz Mighty Cat, a visionary technology from founder Mark Levinson. The exclusive Daniel Hertz Mighty Cat Class D Audio Chip is the only audio IC capable of running Daniel Hertz patented C Wave, which provides the sound and feeling of pure analog from digital content, including streaming. Daniel Hertz Mighty Cat provides all the functions of separate components, including; DAC ( Digital to Analog Converter), Preamplifier, Power amplifier with up to 12 channels, crossover, and headphone amplifier.

Daniel Hertz Mighty Cat is fully configurable and programmable. The entire signal flow is configured by software and can be reconfigured anytime. This allows Daniel Hertz systems to be configured, for example, as a two-channel stereo amplifier, a four-channel amplifier for bi-amplified speakers, or a high-power (800WPC) two-channel amplifier. Speaker tuning can be fine-tuned at any time. Active crossovers can be programmed for bi-amplified speakers, with levels fine-tuned to perfection. An independent internal headphone amplifier can be tuned for any specific headphone. The Daniel Hertz Mighty Cat offers resolution second to none in a highly integrated design with a pure signal path that eliminates sources of coloration and degradation and delivers the most life-like, natural and emotional sound.

Maria amplifier architecture

It is well known that if you listen to 10 power amplifiers, they all sound different.  The reason is that the internal architecture of amplifiers is different. The internal architecture of Daniel Hertz Mighty Cat IC is designed to be exceptionally linear, surpassing the transparency of large, heavy, expensive heat-producing pure analog amplifiers. In addition to being an amplifier, Mighty Cat also performs the functions of the ( DAC ) digital-to-analog converter, and signal processor for active crossovers and more, providing an extremely short signal path that eliminates sources of sonic coloration such as long lead lengths, multiple power supplies, ground loops, signal loading, noise pickup, and inductance.

The Daniel Hertz amplifier architecture includes USB and coax digital input stages, one-megohm analog inputs, output stages, power supplies, protection circuits, and wifi and Bluetooth receivers that match the performance of the Might Cat chip and enable the listener to get the full benefit of its advanced engineering.

Daniel Hertz Continous Wave (C-wave) technology

Everyone falls in love with pure analog audio - LPs and open reel tape recordings. No one falls in love with PCM digital audio. Daniel Hertz C Wave technology upgrades digital audio so people can again fall in love with listening to recordings and get lost in the music.

Daniel Hertz is the only company in the world that can explain, measure and fix the digital problem. The solution is called Daniel Hertz C -wave technology. Pure analog audio is based on a continuous waveform. Digital audio is based on a non-continuous (sampled) waveform. Years of testing with advanced computer-based heath diagnostic equipment shows that the human brain is fatigued or stressed by the non-continuous digital audio waveform. Daniel Hertz C Wave fills in the spaces of the PCM digital audio waveform with original musical information - not sound effects - which enables the brain to respond like to pure analog., with no fatigue or stress reaction.

Because music is emotion, not sound, fatigue or stress interfere with our ability to get lost in the music. Mark Levinson's overriding inspiration for developing the patent-pending C Wave technology was his devotion to live music, the pure analog listening experience, and his passion for upgrading digital audio, including streaming, to enable the emotion that is the fundamental reason why people buy high-quality audio equipment in the first place.

All audio equipment, from the most expensive to the least expensive, is based on the same obsolete non-continuous digital waveform. Daniel Hertz C Wave is the innovation that overcomes the limitations of digital audio without replacing your music library and digital sources.

Typical audio systems are designed to make digital audio tolerable by masking high frequencies and softening the sound, which degrades what the musicians intended. So how can you respond to what you can't hear? Mark Levinson and the Daniel Hertz engineers refused to compromise the music - instead, with C Wave, they improved the actual media format, including streaming.

Daniel Hertz Speakers

Observing that no available speaker could faithfully reproduce the sound of all instruments and voices, Mark Levinson decided to make one.

Breaking the mold, Daniel Hertz engineers designed the flagship M1, which set a new industry standard in music reproduction. The Daniel Hertz team then developed more compact speakers with the DNA of the M1.

Daniel Hertz makes two types of speakers: bi-amplified and full range.

Bi-amplification uses one channel of power amplifier for the subwoofer, and one channel for the mid-high frequency section (per channel). An active crossover is required to divide the audio into a low pass section that drives the subwoofer, and a high pass section that drives the mid-high speakers.

Daniel Hertz's bi-amplified models are the M1, M4 and Chiara.

The M1 and M4 are built with new drivers that includes:

~Daniel Hertz designed and manufactured exclusive compression driver tweeters and molded horns that reproduce frequencies above 2kz, with 130dB SPL capability and 105dB efficiency.

~Daniel Hertz-designed 12" woofers that reproduce frequencies up to 2kHz, with 130B capability and 100dB efficiency.

~Daniel Hertz-designed 18" and 15" subwoofers that reproduce frequencies up to 80Hz, built with excursion capability beyond any other residential speaker, to achieve sound pressure levels up to 130dB with no audible distortion, heat sinking for continuous operation at SPL up to 130dB. In addition, proprietary cone material reduces sound coloration and is not affected by changes in temperature and humidity in the home environment.

~150kg and 120kg braced cabinets, built with precise internal air volumes. The cabinet is sealed and finished with 35 kilograms of premium piano finish.

~Exclusive Daniel Hertz-designed crossover (2kHz) between the 12" woofer and tweeter, personally tuned by Mark Levinson.

Chiara is for those who want the most refined yet compact music system. Bi-amplified Chiara has a level of detail, refinement, deep bass, air and space that goes beyond lower cost options, but is much less expensive that the M1 and M4.

Daniel Hertz's full-range speaker models include the Amber and Eva models. Amber and Eva can be used with any good amplifier as well as with a Maria 350.

Technology Licensing

Daniel Hertz develops new ideas, technology, and products that challenge the audio industry and advance the state of the art in music reproduction. Daniel Hertz is an engineering-driven company committed to honesty and putting the customer first. In an era of mediocrity, complexity, and products that come and go, we are focused on quality, simplicity, and lasting value. The central high-end audio assumption is “if you spend enough money mixing and matching audio equipment, you will eventually be in audio nirvana.” Unfortunately, this assumption makes people endlessly chase their tails, wasting time and money. It’s suitable for generating profits and advertising revenues but not for the customer. Customer satisfaction is created not by mixing and matching but by innovation and thoroughly engineered solutions.
